Jr. would go on to learn several instruments, eventually spending a decade touring and recording with Southern Gospel family act, The Bishops. He later spent eight years touring extensively as a lead and harmony singer and instrumentalist with Bluegrass band, NewFound Road. He finally teamed up with his wife in the Kati Penn Band, which was later named NewTown. “These are some of the best pickers I’ve ever worked with,” he says, “and they all help make me better.”
